Facts About The Charleston Duck Race

  • Family-fun event that raises money for charity work and awards prizes to “lucky duck” adopters
  • Saturday, June 10, 2017– Children’s Park on Daniel Island
  • Festivities start with children’s games and activities (jump castles, face painters, etc.) from 10:00 AM to 2 PM the duck drop to start the duck race at around Noon; and duck race winners announced around 1 PM. Food and beverages are available for purchase from Daniel Island Grill and several cold snack vendors.
  • 30,000 rubber ducks will race down the Wando River with prizes awarded for the first 7 ducks to cross the finish line at the park pier. First prize is $10,000, Second prize is $5,000, and prizes 3 – 7 are $1,000 each.
  • But the real winners are area charities and Rotary programs focused on literacy and education; children and families; health and wellness; hunger and nutrition; or housing and shelter.
  • Duck Race presented by the following 7 area Rotary Clubs: Daniel Island, Johns Island, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston – Breakfast, North Charleston – Lunch, St. Andrews (West Ashley) & Summerville.
  • Ducks may be adopted for a donation of $10 from a Rotarian, at the duck race site on Daniel Island on June 10th, 2017
